Blak Twang’s ‘Dettwork SouthEast’ To Get Official Release

Probably Definitely the best rap album to come out of the UK that has never actually got an official release. Blak Twang‘s Dettwork SouthEast, although heralded as one of the masterpieces of the UK hip hop scene, was never released. Recorded all the way back in 1996, the album celebrates its 18th birthday by actually hitting the shelves of your local record store and favourite digital retailers on CD, vinyl and digital varieties. Previous to this, the album was only pressed for promotional purposes only and spread via the wonder of the internet and before that by ripping it on to tape. The remastered album will be released on 22nd September 2014 be via Sony Music and will have all the features and artwork of the original intended release with the addition of a bonus track. Dettwork London Revisted features Jehst, Rodney P and Black The Ripper over a Harry Love beat (listen to the premiere on BBC 1xtra below).

It was the genesis of my career and really defined what I’ve gone on to achieve since then, so for everyone to get behind this project and truly believe in it has been amazing! – Blak Twang

For some odd reason Queen’s Head and Don’t Let Them Fool You are not on the 2014 release, which is a real shame, but we presume that’s because of ‘industry rule number 4080’.

To celebrate the release of the LP that Hip-Hop Connection (RIP to the best hip hop magazine of all time) ranked 3rd in its list of top 50 UK Hip hop albums, there will be a launch party at Jazz Cafe on Monday 22nd September. This release really is a momentous occasion so we suggest you don’t miss the party; you can get your tickets directly from Gigs & Tours here. More importantly, make sure you pre-order your copy of this incredible album  here.
